Getting back to normal after a vacation doesn’t have to take days!
What is your least favorite part of vacation?
Is it leaving? Not for me!
For me, the worst part is coming home and unpacking. It is truly exhausting to think about. Last week we talked about how to get ready to take that trip. This week is how you can adjust to your life coming from a relaxing (or as relaxing as it can get, right parents?!) journey to your everyday grind.
If you don’t have kids just drop your suitcase, fall on the floor and sleep.
If you DO have kids as soon as you get in the door make sure those kids are going potty and occupied because you have to unload the car.
For this Clean Queen unloading the car is so much easier without little helpers arguing about what is theirs, dropping that one toy they got out of the car on the garage floor and then standing in the doorway while I’m trying to get in the house.
I sure do love them and I would love for them to help me make a cake sometime but when I have to unload 5 people’s junk out of my car I want them watching Paw Patrol and eating snickety snacks.
Take the bags directly to where they need to go
Don’t throw the bags right inside the door and then kick them to the side so you can get a box glass of wine out of the fridge. Tell people to take things as they go to their rooms! If you leave the bags for long they will forget and you’ll trip over the bags.
Just take them to where they need to go immediately. This increases the chances of the bags not being ignored and is the first step to putting everything away and getting those bags back in storage! If your kids are strong enough, tell them to pause Paw Patrol and come get their bag.
Why is my teenager watching Paw Patrol anyways? Why can these dogs talk and operate vehicles? Who left a child and some dogs in charge of the town’s fire and rescue? Where did Ryder get the money to build The Lookout?!
Don’t live out of that suitcase. Unpack as soon as you can!
Sometimes after a long journey it can be tough but as soon as you have the energy just do it! You will feel so much better, actually know where everything is, and lessen the chances of living out of your suitcase for days, weeks, months or maybe the rest of your life.
Get it together Clean Queens, we’re almost done!
You don’t have to clean! You did it before you left, remember?
This is my favorite part! Grab that glass of wine that you so stoically passed up, crack open a beer, chill out and watch a show or just go to bed, you’re all done! After sitting in the car for 9 hours on the way home from Ft. Myers, Florida I cannot tell you how excited I was to crawl in bed.
And because my house was all clean and unpacked I slept like a baby.
